Law enforcement agencies from around Colorado honored 13 officers Friday who were killed in the line of duty.
The names of four officers killed in the line of duty last year were added to the memorial at the Colorado State Patrol Academy in Golden.
They are Jefferson County Sgt. Sean Renfro, state Troopers Taylor Thyfault and Jaimie Jursevics, and University of Colorado Colorado Springs police officer Garret Swasey.
The names of nine other officers killed between 1875 and 2012 were also added.
"Any loss of life is tragic, but to lose so many officers that died serving the people of Colorado is particularly heartbreaking," said Colonel Scott Hernandez, Chief of the Colorado State Patrol. "We hope people will remember these are real people with loved ones, and that we will never forget their sacrifices."
The ceremony included a wreath laying and the release of doves.
