DENVER — Denver police are investigating a stabbing that occurred Thursday morning near the Highland Bridge.

Sonny Jackson with the Denver Police Department said they received a call around 7:15 a.m. about a verbal altercation between two people around 16th Street and Platte Street. At some point, the altercation led to a stabbing.

A female was transported to a hospital for her injuries. She is now in stable condition, Jackson said.

He said he didn't know if the two people knew each other. Police were able to gather information about the suspect and arrested him shortly afterward.

Jackson said police are still investigating what led to the stabbing.
