ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — Detectives in Adams County are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred Sunday in the Sherrelwood neighborhood.
Around 1:08 p.m. Sunday, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of 76th Avenue and Shoshone Street on a report of a disturbance with shots fired. When the deputies arrived, all of the people involved had fled from the scene, according to the sheriff's office.
Shortly afterward, deputies were notified of a person with a gunshot wound at a local hospital. The person was flown to another hospital with a trauma center. The sheriff's office did not have an update on the person's condition.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the sheriff's office said it found that two groups of juveniles became involved in an altercation on 76th Avenue. It became physical and at least one person had a handgun and fired at another person.
Detectives are talking with witnesses and neighbors as they investigate this incident.
