PLATTEVILLE, Colo. — One person died Friday after a fire broke out in a trailer at a Platteville mobile home park.
At 2:37 a.m. Friday, the Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District received a report of a structure fire along the 700 block of Grand Avenue. The individuals who called in said they saw smoke coming from one of the trailers in the mobile home park.
In addition to the Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District, the Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District and LaSalle Fire Protection District responded to the scene.
The first crews to arrive saw heavy smoke coming from the home's eaves. They quickly entered the structure and began to knock down the fire and search for anybody inside.
Firefighters found one resident and one pet deceased in the home, according to the Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District.
The Weld County Coroner's Office was notified.
As of 4:50 a.m., no other injuries or casualties had been reported.
The fire, including its cause, remains under investigation.
In total, 18 firefighters were at the scene.
