AURORA, Colo. – One person was killed and two others injured following a head-on crash in Aurora Saturday.

The crash happened at South Peoria Street and East Mexico Avenue around 10 a.m.

Aurora Police say the driver of a Nissan Maxima was traveling southbound on Peoria at a high-rate speed when the vehicle went over a small dip in the road and lost control.

The Nissan struck a curb, drifted across the double yellow line and struck a northbound Jeep Wrangler head-on, police said.

The passenger of the Nissan was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say drugs or alcohol are not factors and both drivers were wearing seat belts. It’s unclear if the passenger in the Nissan was buckled in.

The identities of those involved are not being released at this time.
