DENVER — Police arrested a man they say was involved in a home invasion shooting the wounded two people during a gunfight inside a home Saturday night.
Ragat Adan, 19, is being held for investigation of attempted first degree murder from the shooting that occurred in the 2900 Block of South Madison Street. Two suspects are still outstanding.
Police said Adan and two other men entered the home through the unlocked front door armed with firearms. They ordered three people inside to get on the ground. But one of the victims fired back, leading to a gunfight between the suspects and the victim, police said.
Two people inside the home were struck -- one grazed in the back of the head and the other victim sustaining a gunshot wound to the arm. Both victims were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Adan was struck by a bullet and sought care at a nearby urgent care facility, according to a probable cause statement. He was eventually transferred to Denver Health and arrested. Police said he was uncooperative when asked how he was shot. Two men who brought the suspect to the urgent care clinic fled in an unknown direction.
Police said the suspects were not invited into the home and were strangers to the victims inside.
