WESTMINSTER, Colo. -- A woman who was struck and killed by a train in Westminster on Saturday may have been wearing headphones at the time of the incident, police say.
The woman, identified as Amanda Kirchner, 20, was walking close to the train tracks in the 10500 block of Wadsworth Boulevard at 1:35 p.m.,
The operator of a Burlington Northern Santa Fe train saw the woman and began to apply the brakes and sounded the train's horn, Westminster Police Investigator Kate Kazell said in a press release.
The woman was struck by the train and was pronounced dead on the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
