We often hear about firefighters rescuing cats from trees, but in the City of Westminster, it was both cat and owner who needed a little assistance from firefighters to get to safer ground.

At around 5 p.m. Friday, firefighters went to the area of West 92nd Place and Cody Lane following reports of a person stuck in a tree after trying to rescue his cat, Jupiter, who had climbed up the tree sometime Thursday.

Once fire crews arrived, they found both a man and his cat 30 feet above ground. The man tried to climb the tree when his ladder fell to the ground, ultimately stranding them both, according to Eric Roth, a public information officer with the Westminster Fire Department.

Crews placed the ladder back up and helped the man descend on his own. Firefighters then used a ladder truck to rescue Jupiter.

Both were reunited without injuries.
