Suspect dead, officer injured after shootout

One suspect is dead, and an officer injured, after a shootout in Westminster.

Westminster police said the confrontation started at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday when officers were investigating a stolen vehicle near 73rd and Tennyson Street.

"An adult male suspect associated with the stolen vehicle presented a gun and fired shots at the officers," Westminster police said. "The officers returned fire, and the suspect died on scene."

Westminster police said one officer had minor injuries and was treated on the scene. Officials did not say how the officer was hurt.

The 17th Judicial District Critical Incident Investigations Team will investigate the shooting.
