LOVELAND, Colo. -- The young woman killed in a head-on crash in Loveland this week was finishing her training to become a teacher.

Breanna R. Boddy, 21, was driving on Eisenhower Boulevard, near Interstate 25, Monday night about 10 p.m. when a wrong-way driver came driving at her head-on.

Investigators said physical evidence indicated Boddy braked and swerved to avoid the collision, but the vehicles still collided. Boddy and the other driver, 44-year-old Mark Edwin Stults, of Greeley, were both killed.

Boddy was from Broomfield. Her Facebook page said she graduated from Legacy High School in 2013 and went to the University of Colorado Denver.

Boddy was studying elementary education and was doing her practicum at a school in the Mapleton School District.

"Many staff members in our Mapleton Schools community are mourning the loss of this beautiful young woman," Mapleton Public School superintendent Charlotte Ciancio said in a statement sent to Denver7. "Breanna was the daughter of a respected member of our nutrition services team and would often come to work with her mother, volunteering her time at different district events."

"It was our hope that one day soon she would choose to work in Mapleton; we are heartbroken for her family," Ciancio said.
