Posted

A Loveland police officer was hit while responding to a chase involving suspected shoplifters.

It happened Monday at noon.

Loveland police said officers were on foot chasing the shoplifting suspects on North Denver Avenue, near Eisenhower Blvd.

Another officer, driving with lights and sirens activated, was crossing Eisenhower to help the officers, when the officer's car was hit by a Chevy Malibu, police said.

The Malibu hit a second vehicle before it stopped.

The driver of the Malibu, a 32-year-old woman, and the police officer, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The Loveland Police Department Technical Crash Investigation team is investigating the crash.

Police did not say if the shoplifting suspects were caught.
