Superhero funeral planned for toddler

Posted

A superhero funeral will be held Friday for a toddler who was killed just days before his third birthday.

Donny "Ro’mello" Romero was reported missing just before 12 p.m. Monday from an apartment in the 2500 block of South Sheridan Boulevard. He was found a short time later, inside the apartment with something wrapped around his neck.

Donny died at a nearby hospital.

A friend of Donny's mother, Roman Morales, 21, is facing a first degree charge in the toddler's death. Morales spent a lot of time at the home, according to Lakewood Police Department spokesman Steve Davis.

Donny's funeral mass and memorial service will be celebrated at Mother Cabrini Shrine in Golden Friday from 10:45 a.m. - 2 p.m. Photos show his casket is a Spiderman casket.

Volunteers are needed to help with parking for the service. Learn more here.

A GoFundme site has raised more than $5,000 to help pay for the funeral.
