DENVER -- A man with multiple DUI convictions who struck and killed a pedestrian in Lakewood earlier this summer has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Jonathan Dale Cordova, 53, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide for the July death of Ernestine Maynes, the Denver Post reported. Cordova had also admitted to leaving the scene of a deadly accident and driving under the influence.
Cordova's blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit when he struck 45-year-old Maynes as she crossed Colfax Avenue west of the intersection with Wadsworth Boulevard, prosecutors said.
A background check by Denver7 found Cordova was convicted of manslaughter in Denver in 1985 and sentenced to four years in state prison.
Prosecutors said Cordova has six alcohol and driving offenses and had been on probation for a previous DUI conviction at the time of the crash.
He also has arrests for assault, domestic violence and drug possession.
