A shoplifting suspect was arrested after crashing his car and trying to run from deputies.
The Boulder County Sheriff's Office said its 911 communications center got a call from the Walmart in Lafayette at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday about a male shoplifter.
Loss prevention workers at the store said the man got away with a shopping cart full of stolen property and that he was driving a tan car.
"A Deputy with the Sheriff's Office saw a vehicle matching this description traveling well above the posted speed limit and passing cars illegally westbound on Arapahoe Road," the sheriff's office said. "The Deputy kept the car in sight, but did not pursue the vehicle."
That deputy said the driver continued west on Arapahoe, turned north on 75 and crashed his vehicle trying to turn east into the Heatherwood subdivision.
The driver ran, but the deputy caught him.
The suspect was taken to the Boulder County Jail.
