Highlands Ranch fans win Star Wars appearance

Posted

The Force was strong with two Highlands Ranch Star Wars fans who won the trip of the lifetime in October of last year, and now could be featured as extras in the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens film.

Trent Adams and D.C. Barns have been friends since grade school and both gave money to the Star Wars UNICEF Force For Change contest. However, only Barns got the call to come to London to visit the set of Star Wars for two days. Luckily, he could bring a friend. So, the pair flew to London.

"When our driver dropped us off on set, which was our trailers, it was pretty cool. We were right next to Daisy Ridley and John Boyega," said Adams.

The pair were fitted with custom made costumes and had the chance to hang out with director J.J. Abrams. Plus, they were on set for a full five days instead of two.

"They handed us these hand-painted costume designs," said Adams. "They were specifically for us... They were probably the most comfortable clothes I've ever worn."

Adams said he can't talk about what his costume looks like, though there are glimpses of the pair's boots and a red outfit Adams wore. The pair weren't even allowed to take pictures. Adams said security put tamper-evident tape over the cameras on their phones.

Being immersed in the cast and crew helped Adams and Barns understand how major feature films are created.

"All of the sets are practical. Very little green screen. It really made a difference," said Adams.

Adams said he will never forget the experience and looks forward to hopefully seeing himself on the big screen.
