LASALLE, Colo. -- Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating after a 17-year-old teen accidentally shot and killed his friend early Saturday morning.
The shooting was reported at around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Weld County Road 43 in the town of LaSalle, located south of Greeley.
The victim of the shooting is a 23-year-old man who frequently stayed at the home, according to a Weld County Sheriff's Office spokesperson. His name will be released once his family has been notified by the Weld County Coroner’s Office and a full investigation has been completed.
The name of the 17-year-old will not be released due to his age.
The teen is in custody has been charged with criminally negligent homicide, according to Matt Turner with the Weld County Sheriff's Office.
