The thief stole a puffer, then apparently crashed it into multiple vehicles Monday. A puffer is a vehicle left running unattended.
Greeley Police say the puffer was at a home near North 23rd Avenue.
When the owner went outside around 6:30 a.m., it was gone.
Greeley Police said an officer spotted the vehicle and tried to stop the driver, but the driver sped off. Greeley Police said they have a no chase policy, so they let the vehicle go.
However, 10 to 15 minutes later, police said they got a report of a crash near 6th Avenue and 19th Street. When officers arrived, they found the puffer and several other vehicles that had been damaged.
Officers said the thief got away. Officers said they followed footprints in snow, but the tracks disappeared.
