GREELEY, Colo. -- An investigation has found that a Greeley charter school fired a teacher accused of having sexual contact with a student but did not report the contact to law enforcement.
An investigation by the Greeley Tribune found that officials at Salida del Sol Academy this past spring investigated a sex-related complaint involving an eighth-grade girl and a male teacher but did not contact law enforcement. The failure appears to be a violation of Colorado mandatory reporting requirements.
The Tribune first learned about the allegations from parents at the school and later confirmed them with law enforcement and school officials.
School officials say they had no obligation to report the allegations that led to the teacher's firing.
