Students will not be allowed to declare majors in French or German for at least a year at the University of Northern Colorado.

The university wants to use the time to improve curriculum and course offerings, and possibly partner with other departments.

The Greeley Tribune reports the decision will not affect 26 current French majors or 21 German majors.

Educators are worried that the suspension could affect other departments, including the impact on K-12 teaching classes.
