GREELEY, Colo. -- A Northridge High School parent was stabbed after confronting a speeding student, police said.

Greeley Police told Denver7 the father called police at about 7:30 a.m. Friday to complain about someone driving fast on 4th Street. The dad said he had followed the driver to the east parking lot at Northridge High School.

The dad said "this was the second day in a row that he had observed this vehicle at high rates of speed in that area as he takes his child to Northridge each day," Greeley Police said.

Minutes later, a witness called police to say the man had been stabbed after confronting a student.

The victim was taken to a nearby emergency room with a serious stab wound, police said.

Officers responding to the scene said they spotted the driver back on 4th Street driving at a high rate of speed. The driver was stopped and detained.

"Upon further investigation, it was determined that two other juveniles became involved in the incident and were also detained as suspects," Greeley Police said.

The school was locked down for a short time while police investigated the stabbing.
