FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — A review of Fort Collins police has found that leaders lost the trust of many officers who thought they were paying more attention to the interests of city officials than to their concerns.
The report done by an outside firm was obtained by the Coloradoan after its release to police Thursday. It comes a week after Chief John Hutto announced he would resign May 12 following some legal settlements and investigations of use of force.
The review, begun in January, found that half of respondents didn't trust or believe police department leaders and only 57 percent felt respected.
City Manager Darin Atteberry says Hutto and the city could have done a better job communicating the importance of the work he did with city hall on issues like body-worn cameras.
