FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- A new class in Fort Collins is teaching dogs good manners at breweries.

Summit Dog Training has been holding a four-week dog brewery training class at New Belgium Brewing. Dogs learn how to stay calm, deal with crowds and socialize. They also learn leash training. Upon completion, owners get a Certified Brewery Friendly dog certificate.

Summit Dog Owner Amber Quan says it’s a great example of two businesses working together.

“Especially when you look at recent legislation changes in Denver where dogs are not allowed in breweries at all. I think Fort Collins really wants to hold on to their dogs and breweries being together,” Quan said.

Owners say they are seeing impressive results in all kinds of environments.

“We actually had an experience today where somebody asked to say hi to her and she did exactly what we’ve been doing in class that’s something she wouldn’t have done before,” Jessica Taylor said.

The class lasts four weeks and costs $125.
