FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Work to rebuild the highway through Big Thompson Canyon between Loveland and Estes Park is on schedule and highway officials expect to reopen the road by Memorial Day as planned.
U.S. Highway 34 has been closed since last fall while crews make long-term repairs.
Heavy flooding washed out the route in 2013. The road reopened but needed to be rebuilt.
The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports road work will continue this summer and will affect tourist traffic on the winding canyon road.
