Erie teen with diabetes found safe, returned to mother

ERIE, Colo. – A diabetic teen in Erie who had gone missing was safely located and returned to her mother, police said. She was found in Erie around 7 a.m. Monday.

Patience Lee Thompson, 16, was reported as a runaway from her home in the area of Moffat and Main Streets at around 1:09 a.m. Saturday. Police were concerned because of her health condition.

Thompson is a Type-1 diabetic and takes a dose of insulin every 24 hours, but police feared that she didn't have enough to meet her daily requirements.
