DENVER — A Denver woman has been charged in the stabbing of a police officer at a hotel last week, prosecutors said Friday.

Alicia Esquibel, 38, faces charges of criminal attempt to commit murder, two counts of first-degree assault and committing a crime of violence, according to the Denver District Attorney's Office.

The incident happened Jan. 6 at a hotel in the 600 block of North Federal Boulevard. A Denver officer was trying to take Esquibel into custody for trespassing and harassment when she allegedly stabbed him multiple times, prosecutors said.

The officer was taken to a hospital and has since been released.
