Two teenagers have been charged in the murder of a man who was moonlighting as a cab driver.
Darren Bloomquist, 49, was shotand killed inside his taxi on Sept. 5, after receiving a call to pick up a fare in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood.
The Denver District Attorney's Office now says Bloomquist was killed in an apparent robbery.
The DA has charged Dasean Perry, 19, and Nicholas McKinney, 18, each with one count of first-degree felony murder.
"McKinney, who was 17 at the time, is being charged as an adult," officials said in a news release sent to Denver7.
A teenager was arrested days after Bloomquist's murder, but not charged. The teen was not identified at the time and the DA's office has not said if that teen was McKinney.
Perry and McKinney are being held without bond.
Metro Taxi said Bloomquist lived a selfless life, even serving his country as a member of the Air Force. He was moonlighting as a cab driver to support his wife, whom Metro Taxi described as physically challenged.
"This is not just a loss for Metro Taxi, but to the Denver community at large to lose such a special driver," said Robert McBride, president and owner of Metro Taxi Denver, in a statement.
