DENVER – After more than ten months of waiting for news on the upcoming Frida Kahlo exhibit in Denver, enthusiasts of the Mexican painter from across the Front Range will finally be able to get tickets for the highly-anticipated exhibition, which will open for the first time in Denver later this year.

The Denver Art Museum announced Tuesday that tickets for the traveling exhibition “Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection” will go on sale Monday, Oct. 12 starting at 10 a.m.

The museum will release the sale of tickets in two blocks: The first will happen at the aforementioned date for those wanting to see the exhibition from opening day on Sunday, Oct. 25 through Monday, Nov. 30. The second block of tickets will be sold starting Monday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. to see the exhibition during its final eight weeks, from Tuesday, December 1, 2020 to Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Tickets will be sold online and in advance through the Denver Art Museum’s website and by phone at (720) 913-0130.

Tickets are not being sold on site at this time due to the coronavirus pandemic, and the ticketing schedule is subject to change at any time due to changes in COVID-19 restrictions, museum officials warned.

Tickets for adult members start at $20 and $26 for non-members. Youth tickets are $5 for ages 6 to 18, and tickets are free for children ages 5 and under.

“Selling exhibition tickets in two blocks is a departure from past ticketing processes,” said Christoph Heinrich, Frederick and Jan Mayer Director of the DAM. “This approach allows us to be to be nimble with ticketing, and make any necessary adjustments to maintain a healthy museum environment for our visitors and staff.”

The exhibition will feature more than 20 works by Frida Kahlo, including paintings and drawings, along with a selection of more than 150 artworks focusing on the modernist movement in the years following the Mexican Revolution. The traveling exhibition will also feature the artworks of Diego Rivera, Lola and Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Gunther Gerzso, María Izquierdo and Carlos Mérida.

“Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Mexican Modernism from the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Collection” is organized by the Vergel Foundation and MondoMostre, in collaboration with the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura (INBAL), and curated locally by Rebecca Hart, Vicki and Kent Logan Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Denver Art Museum.
