Large trash fire burned at recycling center

Thick smoke filled the sky near Interstate 70 and Holly Street Tuesday afternoon.

Denver Fire told Denver7 the large fire was caused by trash and metal shopping carts burning outside the Denver Metal recycling center.

The fire was first reported at 1:14 p.m. at 48th Avenue and Ivy Street.

Officials with Denver Metal told Denver7 that 13 employees were inside the facility when the fire started, they all got out safely.
