DENVER -- Skyline Park has been transformed into a beer garden for the next four weeks. It's just one way the Downtown Denver Partnership is hoping to attract people to the 16th Street Mall.

The pop-up beer garden is located Skyline Park on Arapahoe Street between 16th and 17th Streets. It opened Friday, August 19, and will run through Thursday, September 15. Craft beer enthusiasts and guests of all ages are welcome daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., weather permitting.

"We know Denver loves beer so we thought it was a perfect fit," said Tami Door, President and CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership.

Earlier this summer, the partnership organized 'Meet in the Streets' a series of events aimed at getting more people to spend time on the mall.

Door said she is constantly looking at ways to better utilize and activate public spaces. You can expect to see a beer garden concept again. The Downtown Denver Partnership is already working on plans for an expanded beer garden next year that would run for a longer duration.

"I know there’s been a lot of problems on the 16th Street Mall but I think this will bring people down here and kind of see that’s not what the 16th Street Mall is all about.," said Kim Grabau who works downtown.

Private security guards began patrolling the 16th Street Mall earlier this week.
