DENVER – Police were investigating reports of a suspicious item found at a Catholic church in downtown Denver Saturday morning.
Officers were at Holy Ghost Catholic Church at around 9:30 a.m. after getting reports of a suspicious item near the church.
Several road closures were put in place for the safety of the public: 19th Street was closed at Stout and California was closed at Broadway.
Denver7 photojournalist Eric English was at the scene and reported that police had removed something from inside the church at around 10:35 a.m.
The item was deemed not dangerous by police, according to a tweet sent by the Denver Police Department.
Roads were back open at around 11 a.m.
