DENVER – A few thousand people gathered at Denver’s Civic Center Park Saturday to protest President Donald Trump’s temporary refugee ban.
The Protect Our Muslim Neighbors Rally called on the people of Denver to come show support “to our Muslim neighbors” in the wake of President Trump’s temporary ban on refugees from seven Muslim-majority countries, signed into a series of executive orders last week.
The lineup featured a number of speakers; some talked about Islam, others talked about their families and how deportation has affected them, and others touched on topics of the law and “new bills to protect us," according to 303 Magazine, who spoke with the organizer recently.

One demonstrator at the rally who spoke with Denver7 dismissed rhetoric that the temporary ban is protecting Americans from terrorism.
"That's complete garbage," said Michael Snodgrass. "These refugees don't pose any threat to Americans."
U.S. suspends enforcement of Trump’s temporary travel ban
On Saturday, the U.S. government suspended enforcement of Trump’s refugee and immigration ban.
One Muslim American believes Saturday's actions aren't enough.
"I think that it's sick that it ever happened in the first place," said Saira Siraj. "That's the scary part."
The halt came a day after a federal judge in Washington State temporarily blocked the ban, creating a great setback for the White House.
The order caused unending confusion for many foreigners trying to reach the United States, prompted protests across the United States, including several in Denver, and led to a series of court challenges.
