Passengers were stuck inside a University of Colorado A-Line train for more than an hour on Saturday afternoon after the train suddenly broke down near the Quebec Street crossing.

David Crawford, who was on the train, said passengers quickly lost patience after waiting for what he said was an hour and a half, at one point without air conditioning.

“There were people on there that were sort of suffering from the standpoint of having to go to the bathroom and needing something to drink,” he said.

Crews were able to bring another train to help pull Crawford’s train to Union Station.

The incident impacted other trains by more than 30 minutes.

This is just one of a handful of delays caused by an A-Line train this summer. Last month, trains were delayed by 15 to 30 minutes as crews worked to fix signal and electrical issues.

In May, Denver firefighters had to help evacuate some 80 passengers after a train lost power on a bridge 50 feet above the ground.

Nate Currey, a spokesperson for RTD, tells Denver7 they don’t know what caused the train to suddenly stop Saturday afternoon, citing a possible electrical issue.

Crawford said the incident won’t stop him from taking the A Line.

“I think its outstanding addition,” he said.

He just hopes the experience will serve as a valuable lesson for crews.

“They ought to stock some water on these trains,” he said.
