Stabbing suspect charged with 1st degree murder

A man accused of stabbing a woman to death at an apartment building in southwest Denver is being held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court Friday.

The Denver Post reports Frank Churchill, 62, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Renita Jackson, who was found dead Dec. 3. Documents in the case have been sealed.

Churchill has a criminal record dating to the 1970s that includes convictions involving drug and assault charges. Booking documents do not indicate if he has hired an attorney.

According to Jackson's obituary, she is survived by two children and five grandchildren.
