Looking to travel? DIA, Colorado Springs offer new destinations

DENVER – If you’re looking to get away for a few days, both Denver International Airport and the Colorado Springs Airport offer many destinations both at home and around the world.

Here are some of the flights that have been added in the past six months, and some that will be added before the end of summer.

Denver International Airport:

Denver to Vancouver - Air Canada will begin offering two direct flights between Vancouver and Denver International Airport starting in May.

The flights will run each day starting May 18 through Sept. 10, and one flight per day will be offered for the rest of the year.

Each flight will be able to seat 75 passengers and will leave Denver at 7:55 a.m. year-round. The second flight running through late spring and summer will leave DIA at 2:55 p.m.

Flights back to Denver will arrive at 6:25 p.m. year-round and the
second flight will arrive at 2:20 p.m. during the summer months.

Denver to Monterrey, Mexico – Volaris started offering year-round nonstop flights from Denver to Monterrey Mexico near the end of last year.

Service is twice per week – on Tuesdays and Thursdays and flights leave Denver at 1:30 p.m. and arrive at 5:25 p.m.

Each flight seats 179 passengers.

Monterrey is the third-largest city in Mexico with nearly 4.4 million residents.

Denver to Kona, Hawaii - It’s time to start planning your summer vacation to Hawaii.

United Airlines announced it is adding new seasonal, nonstop service between Denver and Kona, Hawaii.

Flights will depart from Denver International Airport daily throughout the summer, starting on June 8.

The new service is part of a larger nationwide expansion that will add 47 new daily round trips and nearly 9,000 seats per day.

In addition to nonstop service to Kona, United is adding daily flights from Denver to Columbia, Missouri and San Luis Obispo, California. The company is also increasing the frequency of flights between Denver and Albuquerque, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa.

Denver to Belize - If you’ve ever had an itch to travel to Central America, this is your chance.

Southwest Airlines is adding a seasonal nonstop flight fro Denver to Belize City from March 11 through August 13.

At first, the new service will fly once ever Saturday, increasing in June to twice a week, on Saturdays and Sundays. Flights will leave Denver at 10:30 a.m. and arrive in Belize City at 3:50 p.m. (local time).

The new service will provide 143 seats. DIA officials say Belize is currently Denver’s fourth largest market in Central America.

Colorado Springs Airport:

Colorado Springs to Chicago - American Airlines will offer nonstop service to the Windy City beginning July 5.

Flights will depart twice daily from Colorado Springs beginning at 7:25 a.m. and will arrive at O’Hare International Airport at 11 a.m. (local time)

The new service will add 64 seats.

Colorado Springs to Los Angeles – Hollywood won’t be so far away now that Frontier Airlines is adding a seasonal flight to LAX starting June 12.

Flights will leave four times a week starting at 5:55 p.m. and will arrive at LAX at 7:36 p.m. (local time).

Colorado Springs to San Diego - Flights from Colorado Springs to San Diego, Calif., are also becoming a reality for travelers not wanting to go to Denver to take a plane to the west coast.

The seasonal Frontier flights will leave daily from Colorado Springs at 10:35 a.m. and arrive in San Diego at 11:48 a.m. (local time).

Service starts July 10.

Colorado Springs to San Francisco - If you’re going to San Francisco, why not leave from Colorado Springs?

Frontier flights to the Bay Area will leave three times a week – Tuesdays beginning at 3:35 p.m. and Thursdays and Sundays at 5:55 p.m. from Colorado Springs.  

The flights are seasonal and will on June 11 and June 13.

Colorado Springs to Washington, D.C. – If you’re looking to go to our nation’s capital, you will be able to do it from Colorado Springs soon.

Frontier is offering daily flights leaving from Colorado Springs at 3:35 p.m. and will arrive at Washington-Dulles at 8:54 p.m.

The seasonal service starts on July 10.
