It's not just the police department rallying around a Denver officer shot in the line of duty. Strangers from just down the road want to support Tony Lopez, Jr. too.
Something as simple as a beer may help Lopez's recovery. He was wounded during a traffic stop on Federal Boulevard. Police say Jason Wood shot Lopez several times and drove away. Lopez nearly died.
Lost Highway Brewing Company, at 520 East Colfax, is stepping in to assist with recovery.
Owners named their pilsner District 6 Pils when they opened three years ago, in honor Lopez's father. Tony Lopez, Sr. is a commander with Denver Police and works at the District 6 station.

"He’s very involved, very caring guy," owner Tina Pachorek said of Senior. "And this really about trying to give back to him and his family."
Now, the brewery will donate all proceeds from the District 6 Pilsner for the next six days, starting Thursday.
"Everybody likes beer. If you can drink a beer, enjoy the beer, enjoy the fact you’re giving back, that’s bonus," Pachorek said.
Owners will also donate a free pint to anyone who donates blood at any Bonfils Blood Bank in the name of Officer Lopez.
Lopez will undergo a third extensive surgery on Friday.
