Investigators suspect that a driver was drunk when she slammed into a police officer's vehicle early Monday morning.
Denver Police say a female officer was driving southbound on South Downing Street when her vehicle was struck by a westbound vehicle on East Warren Avenue around 5:04 a.m. The police SUV ended up on the sidewalk, wedged against a hill on the front lawn of a home.
A damaged blue coup came to a halt a few yards down the street.
Early Monday, police had blocked the intersection with yellow crime scene tape.
The officer was taken to the hospital.
