Alain Veratti moved to the United States more than 30 years ago but his heart remains in France. The news of an attack in the city of Nice came across his TV and he's still in shock.
"I cry and cry, I cannot believe what happened to all those people and I don't understand how this happened," said Veratti.
He visited France a mere two weeks ago. During the trip, Veratti went to Nice and walked on the same street where a truck plowed into a crowd of people.
"I called some friends in France and called some friends in the states who have kids living close to Nice," said Veratti.
All of his family still lives in France. After many phone calls, he found out that everyone is safe.
Veratti owns the popular of Crepes 'n Crepes, located in downtown Denver and Cherry Creek. He talked with customers at the restaurant Thursday night as everyone tried to process the tragedy.
"They want to scare us but they don’t scare me," said Veratti.
