DENVER – A family hunting for Pokémon ended up encountering more than they had hoped for this week when they saw a baby gator or caiman in the Goldsmith Gulch.
Three sisters were out playing Pokémon GO on Tamarac Drive when they came out along the gulch and saw a Pikachu -- along with what they are now calling the "Gator of Goldsmith Gulch."
Stretching her hands about two-feet wide, one of the girls described how long she imagined the gator was.
This is the second reptile sighting in a week.
Last Sunday, Aurora Police captured a caiman on someone’s front yard. While the reptile is not native to Colorado, dwarf caimans are often kept as pets.
Dwarf caimans can grow up to five-feet long, and full-grown alligators can reach between nine and 15-feet in length.
The girls’ step-father said he called Animal Control after spotting the reptile last night. He has not heard back from them regarding the status of the creature.
