If Sports Authority Field is getting a new name before next season, it needs to happen soon according to those in the sign building industry.
Sports Authority is in bankruptcy and is $2 million behind on payments to the Denver Broncos for naming rights.
Schlosser Signs, the company that designed and built all the new scoreboards and electronics inside the stadium in 2013, said it would take weeks to design, permit, build and install new signs on the stadium.
The first Broncos preseason home game is the week of August 18.
"There's a lot of design work that has to be done," said Mark Kersting, with Schlosser Signs. "How much things weigh, wind load -- all of those sorts of things."
"It's a tight time frame," said Carla Schlosser, CEO with Schlosser Signs. "The sooner we get going, the better."
Schlosser does not have a contract to design, build and install the new signs, but it is something the company would certainly be interested in.
Company officials said the next step all boils down to who gets naming rights, and how fast it wants its name on the stadium.
Naming rights are going for big bucks these days. Farmers Insurance is paying $21 million a year for the new Los Angeles Rams stadium. AT&T is reportedly paying $18 million a year for Cowboys Stadium. And U.S. Bank is paying $8.8 million a year for the new Minnesota Vikings stadium.
