Small businesses supported each other at the fourth annual Denver Startup Week in the heart of downtown.
The event kicked off Monday at the corner of Arapahoe Avenue and 16th Street and is aimed at helping small businesses succeed.
It is the largest free entrepreneurial event of its kind in North America and will feature more than 215 programs geared toward the entire entrepreneurial community. Organizers expect up to 10,000 people to attend.
There were many businesses at the event, but one business has made headlines for its work with Disney. The company was hired to make and sell a version of the droid BB-8 from the new Star Wars movie.
Sphero CTO and founder, Ian Bernstein, was there discussing the future of The Internet of Things. IoT, as it is called, is the idea that everyday objects will develop to have network connectivity in the future, much like Sphero's toys, which are controlled by Bluetooth.
"It will allow us to save water, save energy," said Bernstein. "I don't know if I'd say it will make our life better, but it's taking a lot of mundane things out of our life."
Organizers expect thousands of people and many small business owners to attend this year's event.
It is open everyday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.
