A former Denver nightclub was destroyed after it was consumed by flames on Friday afternoon near University Park.
The blaze is believed to have started at about 4:30 p.m. at the old Dead Beat Club on 4040 E. Evans, near the intersection of S. Colorado Boulevard and Evans Avenue, according to Denver Fire Department spokeswoman Melissa Taylor.
She told 7NEWS the building was vacant at the time of the fire.
Crews were working late into Friday evening to contain the flames and to prevent the fire from spreading into any other buildings in the surrounding area.
Speaking to our partners at The Denver Post, Taylor said the building is considered a total loss.
