DENVER -- An armed and dangerous person of interest involved in a chase was arrested by authorities early Sunday afternoon.
James Anthony Draper, 33, was caught in the area of East Colfax Avenue and Yosemite Street at around 1:15 p.m. after leading police on a chase for about five minutes, the Denver Police Department said in a tweet.
Police said he had carjacked a vehicle and was shooting a gun at random and at innocent bystanders. No one was injured but some cars were damaged.
During the chase, the suspect reportedly pointed the firearm at multiple Aurora and Denver police officers. He is believed to have been involved in up to four shootings during the course of this incident, an official with the Aurora Police Department said.
Draper was listed as a person of interest in a homicide which took place on Saturday in the area of East Alameda Parkway and South Memphis Way. Police are still investigating that homicide.
