"American Airlines flight 569 from Los Angeles (LAX) to Toronto (YYZ), an Airbus 319 aircraft, diverted to Denver due to reports of an odor onboard, a statement from American Airlines reads. "The aircraft landed safely and taxied to the gate without further incident. Our maintenance personnel are investigating the cause of the odor at this time."
A passenger on the flight said crews told travelers everyone had to de-board the plane. "Smoke started around one of the center emergency exits," George Sully told Denver7.
There were 100 passengers and a crew of five onboard, an American Airlines spokesperson also said in the release.
Crews are working to get passengers onto the next flight as soon as possible.
