Denver police are investigating a shooting and car crash that happened Wednesday morning.
Officers said they initially got a report of shots fired around 4 a.m. at Colfax and Speer.
At the same time, they got a report of a crash that involved four vehicles. One vehicle, a van, hit a tree knocking it into the traffic lanes.
Investigators said two people were in the van. One of them was the shooting victim. Police said the victim managed to crawl out of the van and throw a gun onto the embankment of Cherry Creek. Officers have recovered that gun.
The shooting victim and a second person were hospitalized. Police said both victims have non-life threatening injuries.
