Four people have been taken into custody after a shooting and a crash in Denver Sunday morning.

A witness told Denver7 that their car was hit by gunfire coming from a red Jeep at South Federal Boulevard and West Florida Avenue. A police spokesperson confirmed with Denver7 the witness statement and said that at least two suspects, as well as the red Jeep Wrangler with a black top, remain at-large.

"[It] was scary for a Sunday, really scary," said Chad Goodman, who was driving a Ford Escape at the time of the shooting. "We're heading east on Florida and a caravan of jeeps of various colors runs the red light through Zuni headed south."

Goodman also said there appeared to be a clash between occupants of the red Jeep and blue Jeep Cherokee. However, DPD spokesperson Tyron Campbell said police have no evidence that anyone in the blue Jeep was involved in gunfire.

"We followed because it was so reckless, we wanted to see the outcome of this ridiculousness," he said. "This is a pretty rough little area in Denver and I have never, never seen a gun, never had a harsh word… never had a problem."

Moments later, the Cherokee crashed head-on into a Toyota sedan at the same intersection. One suspect from the crash fled on foot, police said. Campbell added the four people detained after the crash are being investigated in connection with any role they played in the entire incident.

Police said no one was hurt in the shooting or the crash.

Denver7 photojournalist Josh Montoya was there when police handcuffed a woman and put her in a patrol car.

Florida was closed from Federal to South Eliot Street for a brief time as investigators worked the scene.
