COMMERCE CITY, Colo. -- An adult store clerk held up at gunpoint and tied up fears for the safety of other employees working at Romantix in Commerce City, after the suspect told her that he would return to the store.
Police responded to the store on Pontiac Street and 48th Ave. shortly after 6 a.m. Monday morning. The suspect is still at-large.
"He’s walking towards me and he’s like telling me to move, move, get to the back and he’s pointing the gun," said the clerk.
The clerk said the robber was wearing a black hoodie, sunglasses, surgical mask and rubber gloves. He ordered her into a fitting room then tied her up with an electrical wire.
Denver7 is concealing her identity because she is worried the suspect might recognize her.
"So if he doesn't get what he wants, what's going to happen to me? I have two kids, I need to go home to my two kids, I'm all they got. What's going to happen to me? I'm here by myself," said the clerk.
The woman quit Wednesday morning. She went back to work the next day after the robbery but said she had an emotional meltdown inside the store.
"I shouldn’t have to feel like this at work. I’m here to do my job, to make money so I could provide for my family and I’m scared, that’s not right," said the woman.
Another store employee also told Denver7 she quit after the robbery. It's not the first incident at the store. Someone shot a man and carjacked him outside Romantix in May. The employee said pleas to improve security went unanswered.
Denver7 reached out to company officials at Romantix to ask them about the store's security measures.
The clerk who was held up said the suspect asked about two people while inside the store. He mentioned two names of people that he believed worked there.
"He was there looking for these people and yeah looking to rob," said the clerk.
The clerk said the man stole money from the register, $20 from her purse and male enhancement pills.
