Prescribed burn at Rocky Mountain Arsenal

Smoke from a controlled burn at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Refuge will likely be visible Sunday.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to burn about 1,000 acres between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. according to spokesman Steve Segin.

Burning helps to regenerate the growth of prairie grasses and improves wildlife habitat, the service said in a post online.

The wildlife service burned several acres on Wednesday. That burn put up a thick plume of smoke that was visible for miles.
