Black ice causes crashes on I-25, I-225, more

Back ice was blamed for crashes on I-25, I-225, I-70 and throughout the area Friday morning.

Southbound I-225

Southbound I-225 was closed at Parker Road because of a crash around 5:45 a.m., according to CDOT.

It reopened around 7:30 a.m.

Northbound I-25

A crash was blocking lanes on northbound I-25 at 104th Avenue at 6:40 a.m. While the crash was cleared by 7:15 a.m., Luber said there was a stall in the area.

Westbound C-470

Luber said a crash on westbound C-470 was blocking the right lane before Quebec at 7:10 a.m.

Southbound I-25

Southbound Interstate 25 was closed for about an hour at Happy Canyon Friday due to crashes and black ice. It reopened at 6:35 a.m.

The Colorado State Patrol said the closure was because of multiple crashes on the curve between Happy Canyon and the Founders Parkway exit for the Castle Rock Factory Outlets.

Interstate 70

A crash on westbound I-70 near Wadsworth was blocking lanes at 6 a.m. It was cleared at 6:45 a.m.
