1 killed after attempted robbery at Family Dollar in Brighton, robbery suspect in custody

BRIGHTON, Colo. -- A man stabbed during an attempted robbery at a Family Dollar Store in Brighton died from his injuries Thursday evening.

The attempted robbery took place at around 5 p.m. in the area of Pecos Avenue and West 72nd Avenue.

When deputies arrived at the scene they found an adult man with stab wounds. They were also "able to determine the responsible party was still on scene," according to an official with the Adams County Sheriff's Office.   

The suspect was taken into custody and the victim was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, the official said.
