Man who sent white powder to Jewish groups gets work release

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- A man who sent suspicious letters containing a non-toxic white powder to two Jewish organizations has been sentenced to a year of work release in the Boulder County Jail.

The Daily Camera reports Jeffrey Klinkel was sentenced Friday after previously pleading guilty to menacing and using a hoax chemical or biological weapon. The judge also gave him four years of probation.

Prosecutors say employees at the Boulder Jewish Community Center found a letter April 6, 2015, with white powder and a note that said, "This Goyim is enjoying the blood of her enemies for Passover." Shortly after that, employees at Congregation Har HaShem found a letter with white powder and a similar note.

The white powder in both envelopes was corn starch.

Klinkel's fingerprints were found on both of the letters.
